Willie Austen What can one say, after twenty-five or more years regularly entertaining the pubs & clubs of the Horsham District & beyond. Willie Austin’s reputation goes before him; he truly must be the hardest working entertainer in the Horsham area!

speedboatz ……………….. http://www.myspace.com/speedboatz

This 4-piece band have dedicated their lives to reproducing classic songs from the last 50 years. If it rocks, they play it, from The Jam to the Who, via The Vapours, The Clash, The Stray Cats and loads of other loud guitar bands whose names don’t start with “The”.
The ‘Boatz (as they are known to their loyal followers) were formed in the dark days of early 2003, to form a heady new mix of super fast punk-funk-guitar mayhem. Success was immediate. Having won the H.D.L.M.A Battle of the Bands in 2004, beating off competition from all over the known universe.
Like a bit of a pogo? Well, get your dancing shoes out, burn them and then head on down to the Green for a right old mosh-up!

Kick ……………………………………. http://www.myspace.com/kickbanduk Formed around 1999 Kick are a versatile covers band made up of four individuals with an undoubted love of music. A four piece band who’s ability to use all of their players vocals to create stunning harmonies with varied leads, enabling them to play a wide variety of different styles, including rock, Indie, pop, soul & funk They play music everybody loves from the 60s to the present day.

The Gutterhearts …………………. http://www.myspace.com/thegutterhearts Formed in 2007 The Gutterhearts are a collection of brilliant musicians fronted by Paul, playing original music together with an eclectic trawl through the murky backwaters of the last forty years of ‘pop.’

The Twelve Sullivans ……………….. http://www.thetwelvesullivans.co.uk Fresh from their headline performance of the Surrey Advertiser Stage at last weeks GuilFest, it is with great pleasure that we introduce The Twelve Sullivans to the Barns Green Music Festival. The band play hard hitting, Guinness fuelled, traditional Irish folk music at 90mph If you like Shane MacGowan; The Pogues; Van Morrison; The Chieftains; The Dubliners; if you like fiddle, accordion & wild reels, you will love The Twelve Sullivans.

Who Dares Sings ………………… http://www.whodaressings.co.uk/

We once again welcome the founders of this event, the Local choir Who Dares Sings, fresh from there success in Cardiff, where they won through to the national selection stage of Radio 3’s Choir of the year 2008 competition. What would the Barns Green Music Festival be without these lovely ladies!

Tuxedo Function ……………………….. http://www.tuxedofunktion.com/

Mr Fynn…………………………………….. .http://www.myspace.com/mrfynn With the final line-up getting together in late summer of 2007, Mr Fynn have gone from strength to strength, by the time you read this they will have taken part in the final of a national battle of the bands (performing at Croydon‘s Fairfield Halls on 28th June 2008) & just last week they appeared at GuilFest.
So if you missed either of these performances & don’t wish to join the band on their self funded University tour to promote their upcoming E.P release, ‘Stand Down.’ Then here’s your chance to witness, what if there’s any justice in the world, will be the next big band to arise from the Horsham area, you will be able to say I was there when they played at the BGMF 08. To see the band perform an acoustic set, pop along to The Boar’s Head, Horsham where Mr Fynn regularly entertain the crowds.

HouseProud…………………………….. http://www.thisishouseproud.co.uk/
Tuxedo Funktion ……………………. http://www.tuxedofunktion.com/ The ultimate party band for any occasion, Tuxedo Funktion always deliver a superb live show, timeless funk, soul, disco, rock & party classics there all there, everybody is guaranteed a good time!

The Reggae Tent ……………… Between 1.00 & 5.00 pm Suedehead Sound System (Richard Kelsey & friends) will be providing the Reggae beat, on the northern edge of the Green,

BARNS GREEN MUSIC FESTIVAL 5th JULY 2009
After the rip roaring success of BGMF 08 its time to do it all again, bigger & better than ever before, preparations are well advance with regard to this years festival, which will be held once again on the Village Green, at the heart of our village, on Sunday the 5th July commencing at midday & running through to 10.00pm. If you have been before all the usuals, will be there together with a few new added features. Being our 5th & now annual Music Festival, we are making a positive move to bring in acts that will bring a vibrant feel to the festival plus a couple of old favourites to get you bopping ! ! ! ! ! ! For example this year we welcome the return of the Rachel Hawker & the Remedies who will take to the stage at approx. 7.30pm on the big day. In addition we welcome for the first time a wide selection of new and established local musical talent, which we hope will make this years festival the best yet, building upon the phenomenal success of last years event that raised nearly £3500 for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust, supporting the School for Parents at near by Five Oaks. This years Festival will once again support Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex & we hope to raise an even more impressive sum for this year’s nominated charity. The festival will commence at midday & in addition to Rachel Hawker & the Remedies, will feature Gren Bartley & Tom Kitching, The Bootleggers, The Blue Sunrise Band, Nicolette Street, The Saviours of Soul, Malfunction & Sirens. Then to top it all the Festival will close with a headline performance by non other than Murdoch’s Crazy Eye’s. Further to all this activity on the Village Green, for the first time “Gary’s Live Music Club” will be providing over three hour Folk & Acoustic music within the Village Hall, during the afternoon, featuring the likes of Gary Holder, Heartree, Playing Rapunzel, Iris Bishop & Julie Roberts followed by the return of “HouseProud” who will once again rock the Village hall to its very foundations, with four hours of House Music in the evening, presenting a history of House Music featuring DJs Jonathan Dodson, Marky Marc, Holly-Bee & Brian Mole. It is going to be an amazing day of live music, so whether you’re a veteran attendee of the Barns Green Music Festival, or are a BGMF virgin, looking to attend for the first time, you are all welcome to come & enjoy a great family orientated day out, with some of if not the best music in town ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !. And with your help we will raise a lot of money for our nominated charity “Chestnut Tree House”

BGMF Thankyou 2008

Sadly the Barns Green Music Festival 2008 is over for another year.
Having taken this years festival to new heights, with a total of seven quality live bands, whilst the Rescuers kept the party rolling between set changes, Great acoustics from Who Dares Sings & not forgetting HouseProud that gave us a history of House Music, I suspect the likes of which has never been seen, anywhere near our quite Village,
All I can say is all in all what a party!

We are really pleased to announce that
following BGMF 08 we will be making a donation of just over £3400 (ten percent up on last year) to the “The Dame Vera Lynn Trust” supporting the School for Parents, Ingfield Manor at Five Oaks.

There are to many people to thank, following this years festival. To mention everybody individually on this page would be impossible, but I must draw to your attention our sponsors & supporters (see “Our Sponsors Page”)
Without the support of these local companies, the Barns Green Music Festival simply would not exist. The sponsorship and support we have received has been invaluable, and we look forward to working with some of you again next year. Anyone else interested is invited to join us for BGMF 09 (watch this space,)

Obviously we must also thank each and every musician/ performer/ entertainer (see BGMF2008 and Past Events) who individually & collectively, surpassed all expectations, to provide over ten hours of top quality entertainment. From the first chord of The Gutterhearts, through to the last beat of the Speedboatz, and don’t forget each & everyone who gave their time & expertise, completely free of charge. Without the likes of The Gutterhearts, Mr Fynn, Who Dares Sings, Tuxedo Funktion, Willie Austen, The Twelve Sullivan’s, The Rescuers, “KICK” HouseProud & the Speedboatz, the show would not have gone on! So the management committee wish to extend a massive thank you to you

In addition to the above I would like to say a special thank you to following-: the two sound engineers from Kaotic Event Productions, who worked tirelessly throughout the day, together with Gary Fordery who provided the stage lighting.
The PTA of the Itchingfield School for the addition of the “Kids Zone” during the afternoon, Owen of alocalpriinter.com for the printing of the flyers & the event programme, which we feel sure, will become a collectors item in years to come. Finally four young gentlemen by the name of Oliver, Will, Alex & Fin, who without being asked entertained the crowds, with Diabolos & raised a total of £34 for our nominated charity.
Lastly a big thank you for each & every individual who played a part in either the build up to, the event itself, or the clearing up operation that followed, THANK YOU ALL

How do we follow BGMF 08? Well surprising enough, work has already commenced (no piece for the wicked) on the planning for next year. The management committee is open to suggestions; we are only too pleased to hear from either individuals or groups with ideas for consideration for BGMF 2009. We are also interested to hear form local bands/ musicians who may wish to be considered for inclusion in next years event, needless to say we already have a couple of bands lined up that we feel will continue to deliver the high standards that have been set over the last couple of years, watch this space to see where the Barns Green Music Festival goes form here?

A huge thank you To Dave Grout the Festival Chairman only a few people know how much time he puts into making the festival happen. Without him there would not be a festival.
